Rules / Management Plan
Rules
Originally adopted on March 9, 1993, the South Plains UWCD rules remained unchanged for over six years. However, changes in State water law, coupled with several dry years in the 90s, provided an incentive for Directors to update the policies and guidelines of the District. In 1999 and in 2005, the rules were reviewed and several changes and additions were adopted.
Once again in 2007, the Directors began the process of reviewing the rules. Changes in several areas were needed to update administrative procedures. The changes were adopted and became effective October 6, 2009.

Management Plan
The South Plains UWCD received certification of its Groundwater Management Plan from the Texas Water Development Board on November 14, 2018. Development and certification of the Plan are required by Texas law. The Management Plan is effective until November 14, 2023.
Each year the District prepares a report that quantifies the attainment of goals listed in the Management Plan. Also included in the report are other pertinent activities that affect conservation.
